If your kids are like mine, then they strive on having a variety of gross motor options around the home. Our balance board from Outree is a favorite resource, whether it is to burn energy, a way to regulate, or just a fun play option.

Here are our top 5 favorite uses:

  1. Rocking and regulating

-When the boys are in need of some sensory stimulation, the balance board is key. It provides an opportunity to calm the mind, release some energy, and shifting focus to something new.

  2. Using along side our play couch for fun builds

-We are big fans of our play couches. They are probably the top use "toy" in our home and the balance board almost always joins in on the fun. The balance board makes a perfect climbing ramp or slide for bigger builds.

  3. Building with Magna-Tiles

-If you haven't tried building on your balance board, you should totally give it a try. We love using our magna-tiles to build on our board. Work on patterns, use road tiles to create a ramp, make a rainbow. The options are endless.

  4. Car play and ramps

-Another fun and simple use is with cars! Use your cars to slide down the ramp. Or even create a little tunnel or parking space for your cars.

  5. Obstacle courses

-This is definitely a favorite. Having two boys in a home is busy. They have a never ending surplus of energy, so we are always running around finding ways to release some of that. Obstacle courses are a blast! Adding in the balance board as part of the course is a fun way to slow the course down. Have them count to a certain number while rocking, sing the alphabet, etc.

We are always discovering new and excting ways to play with our balance board.
