"Tie Dye" Paper Art

I don't know if it's a boy thing or not, but my boys just do not love to sit down and color! They are on the go and constantly running around with their cars and trucks. However, they did think this art project we tried was pretty cool!

I think the "tie dye" look of this project made it exciting and different to them. I know as a kid I was totally obsessed with tie dye! For this project, you can do millions of variations. While it was our first time trying, I just wrote out their names. With older toddlers they could draw a picture, or I thought this would be a super fun picture to do around the holidays. You could make Easter eggs, Christmas Trees, Ornaments, Rainbows, Fireworks, literally anything!

You will need:

  • White paper

  • Tin foil

  • Markers

  • Spray bottle filled with water

Here is what we did:

1. Grab a piece of white paper and write out your little's name. They could also do it! OR they or you could draw a picture.
2. Grab an equal size piece of tin foil.
3. Have your little color the tin foil. Try to have them color the whole thing. The more surface area they cover the better it will turn out.
4. Spray the tin foil with water (just a couple sprays to cover all the foil).
5. Stamp your paper onto the foil!
6. Let it dry.

I hope you give it a try! Share your fun ideas that you tried :)
