Sensory Bins - Halloween Themed

Updated: Oct 16, 2022

Sensory bins are such a fun and easy way to explore by using the 5 senses. You can literally put anything you want in them and can cater to your child's age. You don't even need to go to the store or buy anything to create a sensory bin.

  • Use rice, beans, pasta, or water as a base

  • Add in some utensils to promote and improve fine motor skills - spoons, tongs, tweezers, etc.

  • Then add anything fun for your child to play with!

Your sensory bins do not have to be themed, but does add a little extra fun to base around the seasons or holidays. You could even create a sensory bin to support cognitive development by incorporating the alphabet, shapes, numbers, or their name.

Some of my favorite places to shop for sensory bin additions (besides around the house) are the Dollar Store, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, garage sales, and the Target "dollar" section.

P.S. if you do this with your littles, EMBRACE THE MESS!

For this Halloween sensory bin we added:
- Black beans
- Spiders
- Small pumpkins from the dollar store
- Skeleton heads
- Gooey eyeballs
- Fun sensory balls
- Halloween cups and spoons
