Pre-Writing Rice Activity

Here is a great pre-writing activity that you can do with your toddler as they begin their handwriting journey and more specifically, writing their name. This sensory motor writing activity adds a bit of fun when practicing letter formation.

Here is what we did:

1. I started by grabbing a baking sheet and covering it with rice.

2. I then grabbed the letters that we were practicing (Hux) using the flashcards that I printed and laminated previously

3. Lastly, I gave my little a paint brush to create his letters in the rice. We started with the first letter of his name and progressed to three letters.

TIP - To get your little started, guide their hand the first couple times (remind them to use their pinchers to practicing holding their "pencil" correctly). If this is your first time practicing letter formation only start with one letter, so they do not get overwhelmed.

This was so fun and so cute to see how proud he was when he wrote his letters!

Here is a freebie of the flashcards I created!
