Pot of Gold Counting!

The dollar store is always hit or miss and today I was totally feeling like it was a miss when we were looking for some St. Patrick's Day activity supplies.. However, when I got home we ended up coming up with the cutest little counting activity for St. Patrick's Day!

Here are the few things we found:

  • Foam cauldrons

  • Gold coins

  • Green Easter grass

  • Dry Erase Dice (I thought this was so cool!)

We used these 4 items to make a sensory bin counting game! To my surprise, our few items turned into a huge win!

How to set up the activity!

  1. On the dry erase dice write the numbers 1-6 (you could use regular dice too if you can't find one of these)

  2. Grab a bin and throw in some Easter grass. I wouldn't suggest using too much.

  3. Throw in the golden coins.

  4. Set out the foam pots.

To play!

  1. Have your little roll the dice and identify the number shown.

  2. Use tongs or their fingers to dig for that number of gold from the bin.

  3. Count the gold on to the pot as it is placed! (For example, if you roll the number 4 place 4 pieces of gold on to the pot.)

  4. REPEAT
