Name Writing Practice

My three year old son is go, go, go ALL THE TIME. Trucks and cars seem to be all he thinks about lately, which is great! However, getting him to sit down with me and work on writing always seems like a major win. Here is one of our go to name writing activities we do together.

I found some letter formation cards by Nature Inspired Learning that I printed off and laminated (https://natureinspiredlearning.com/letter-formation-cards/).

I then grabbed the letters in my son's name from an alphabet puzzle we have at home. We are currently working on the shortened version of his name. https://amzn.to/3jZqMMa

We start by building his name on top of the letter formation cards, and then we grab a dry erase marker and work on writing his name! After a couple times practicing, we flip over the cards and practice writing without the outline.

It is SO fun for me to watch him learn how to write, as he gets older. I make a big deal out of it because it truly is so exciting. I also feel like getting excited about these victories helps your little get excited about learning.

I hope you give it a try! Even if it's just starting with the first letter of their name! The small wins turn into big wins with time, patience, and practice :)
