Name Sensory Activity!

Here is a fun sensory activity to practice name and letter recognition and also build strength in your little's hands.

For this activity I needed:

  • Construction paper with tape or post-it notes

  • Marker

  • Magnetic letters

  • Cereal or a sensory bin base (rice, beans, etc.)

  • Tongs, tweezer, or spoon

To prepare this activity, you will put your sensory base into a pan or bucket. Then add the magnetic letters to the sensory bin. It is up to you if you only want to do the letters in your child's name or if you want to add a surplus of letters so they have to recognize whether or not that letter is in their name.

I used construction paper and then wrote the letter's of my son's name on the paper and taped them to the dishwasher (fridge works too).

Give your child the fine motor tool and have them match the magnetic letters in the bin to the letters in their name!

To extend this activity, you can add their middle and last name or family member's names. You could also take away the construction paper letters and have them spell their name without the extra guidance.
