This was a messy activity, but my boys LOVED it! I mean come on they are boys, so anything messy they are excited about :)
To get ready for this activity we made some chocolate pudding. You could also use paint, cocoa powder with some water and cornstarch, or real mud. We also collected some of their farm animal toys. I filled a tub up with some soapy water and another tub with the pudding we had made.
We started the activity by reading the story Mrs. Washy-Washy's Farm. (click the book for the link)
I laid out a towel and the tub with the animals and chocolate pudding. They got their animals nice and dirty and played around with them for a few minutes! Because it is pudding they may have also had a few bites :)
Next, I set out the tub with the soapy water and gave them some sponges and brushes to clean their animals with!
I then just allowed them to free play back and forth with the "mud" and "bath"
