Let's Make Turkeys!

Its November! Which means one week closer to Christmas :) But for now, we are making some Thanksgiving activities and crafts. Today, I painted the boys' feet to make turkeys. You could also do it using hands.

I find it so fun to paint feet because everyone reacts so differently. The sensation of painting their little toes is so odd to them. I did both my boys and their cousin's feet and they each had a different reaction. One giggling, one emotionless, and one not too happy! But each turkey turned out super cute.

With this activity, you could read some turkey related books or the boys' dad even suggested showing them a video of some turkeys! Such a fun way to show them what a real life turkey looks like.

For this craft you will need:

  • Hands or feet

  • Paint (brown, red, yellow, orange)

  • Paintbrushes

  • Paper, specifically white for painting on

  • Black and orange marker

  • Scissors and glue

  1. First you will paint your littles feet and stamp their foot onto white paper. I did a couple of red, yellow, orange, and one brown. The body of the turkey will be brown, and then you can add a few footprints for feathers. As many or as little as you would like. I found that for the bigger feet I wasn't able to do as many.

  2. Once the paint dries, cut out the footprints.

  3. Grab a clean piece of paper. Color is up to you! Glue the red, yellow, and orange feathers in a rainbow shape with the toes pointing upward. Next, grab the brown footprint and put it in the middle of the "feathers" facing downward.

  4. Add black eyes and an orange beak on to the brown footprint. You could also draw on a wattle.

  5. You could then add: names, "Little Turkey", and the year for a keepsake!
