Indoor Active and Imaginative Play

The winter and holiday season is so fun and magical for families, but the cold weather really can make some of the days long, I feel like this season, we are much better "prepared" as far as having a bigger variety of indoor active play options.

I love that these active play options provide opportunities to get wiggles out while stuck inside, but they are also open-ended. Allowing your littles to run wild with their imaginations and use them in the most creative of ways.

Take a look at some of our favorites:

  1. Dream Couch or snuggle couch from Wild Kids Play is a MUST! We absolutley love everything about our play couch and this brand. Forts, obstacle courses, stair slides, restaurant play, cozy movie night cuddles, the list literally goes on and on!

  2. Wooden Balance Beam from Poppyseed Play. Balance beams are another fun option for physical play. So great for balance and coordination, but my boys have also used the balance beam for their cars and trucks and to setup small worlds with their animals.

  3. Wooden Stepping Stones from Poppyseed Play is another super fun option. Our favorite uses are in obstacle courses and for the floor is lava! The different colored stones also allows for a wide variety of play and learning.

  4. Sky Bar from Wild Kids Play. We have used a friend's sky bar and the boys were so obsessed that it was on our Christmas wish-list. Can't wait for this one!

  5. Indoor Swing from Moonkee Play. This indoor swing is not only great for active play, but it is also a great sensory and calming option. The boys absolutely loved this swing the moment it was set-up in our house.

  6. Balance Board from Outree. This is another super fun open-ended option. Perfect to use for balance, but also many other ways. Add in to your forts, use as a car ramp, as a chair, as a tunnel, part of your obstacle course!

  7. ALL accessories from Wild Kids Play. No matter which accessories you get, you will love and use all the time. Our favorites are the crash cloud, rockers, and wedges!

  8. Nex Active Game System. If you allow screen-time in your home, NEX is a super fun option for active play! There are tons of fun games for littles and families to enjoy together and have an absolute blast! I love that there are no controllers needed, so you are able to move your body in a natural manner and get moving!

  9. Play Battle Golf is a crazy fun option for your kids (or husbands) who love to golf!

If you haven't already, I would definitely check out some of these fun play options! As a stay at home mom to two boys with a lot of energy, having quality resources that foster their imaginations and development is truly very important.
