I have seen so many people use pipe cleaners and beads to work on fine motor skills and engage their little ones in a variety of activities. So I decided to make some little flowers that we could use to practice fine motor, counting, and colors!
This activity was a great one to do with both my 3 year old and my almost 2 year old! My 3 year old used this activity to work on fine motor + counting, while my 2 year old worked on fine motor + colors. It is a very versatile activity. You could skip colors and counting altogether and just create little flowers and work on fine motor skills with the beads and pipe cleaners!
You will need:
Flower documents or create your own
Green pipe cleaners (https://amzn.to/3KXNqxZ)
Variety of color beads (https://amzn.to/3mx9TcX) (https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Beadery-Primary-Color-Pony-Bead-Box-2300-Pieces/439237339?athbdg=L1103&from=searchResults)
Tape and scissors
Here is what we did!
Print off the flowers with numbers or without (depending on which concept you are wanting to practice) OR create your own flowers
Cut out the flowers and laminate (if you'd like)
Use green pipe cleaners and tape to back of the flower
Grab some colorful beads
If working on colors, give your little the beads and allow them to work on beading the flower with the correct color that matches the flower
If working on numbers, you can skip colors and work specifically on counting the number of beads onto the flower OR do a combination and work on the correct number of beads and the correct color
Cohen worked on colors only. Huxley ignored colors and chose to just do counting!
