Fall Play Fun with an Apple Theme

Beginning the Fall Season with Apples

As much as I adore summertime with family, Fall play as a stay at home mom might be my absolute favorite. There is something so magical about the turn of the season. The weather is a little cooler, the leaves are beginning to change colors, and all the fun Fall holiday activities are in action.

Preschool Activities with Apples

As a stay at home mom and having gone to school for teaching, I find it so fun to bring learning moments into our home. and creating printables to go along with some of our themed play + learning. I posted our apple theme and did some tweaking with a new year and new learning taking place with my 4 year old. A handful of activities remain the same that I am also doing with my 3 year old.

Here are a few of the pirntable activities you will find in this years apple bundle:

  • Literacy

  • Math

  • Fine Motor

  • Science + Nature

Apple Crafting and Sensory Play

  • Apple Sensory Bins :

I love adding in sensory fillers to make learning hands-on, more engaging, and overall just more exciting. We got fillers from Hippie Hooray and The Creative Mixshop for our apple play.

  • Apple Pie Playdough : Making homemade playdough with an apple pie scent is so fun! All you need is your favorite playdough recipe, some apple pie spice, and food coloring. Providing a tactile sensory experience for children, plus it smells AMAZING!

  • Potion Play

Making potions is always fun. No matter the day, no matter the theme. Baking soda, vinegar and some coloring for endless amounts of bubbly fun. We've been using mica powder in our potions and the colors are so shimmery and fun. However, we do still use food coloring or liquid paint for potions as well.

  • Apple Stamping

Using apples as stamps is such a fun way to create art. Cut the apples in half, grab some paint and paper and you are good to go! I've seen a couple hacks where you can poke a popsicle stick in the backside of the apple to make holding the apple easier! While you cut the apples in half, take the time to talk about the different parts of the apple!

  • Magna-Tile Builds

We love creating a variety of builds on our magnetic white board with our tiles. It is such a fun way to make puzzles and to create another opportunity for learning. We made an "ABC Apple Tree" to work on alphabet recognition and sorting.

  • DIYs

We created an Apple Tree on paper to go with the book "Ten Red Apples". I printed off apples with numbers 1-20 to work on number recognition, but you could just as easily make apples on construction paper!

The DIY toilet roll and construction paper is a fun way to make mini trees and work on color sorting.

An apple washing station is a fun water play idea! Add some sponges, soap, and water to a bucket and let your littles wash away.

Fall is such a magical time of the year with the leaves changing colors and all the fun holiday festivities in action. Hope you find some of these ideas useful :)
