Easter Egg Math

Here is one of the best Easter math activities you can do with your toddlers and preschoolers who are learning to count. It is also a great activity for the 3-4 year olds are learning the one-to-one correspondence skill (pointing to objects and counting at the same time).

The egg carton in this activity is supposed to represent a ten frame. Ten frames are very common tools to use with young children practicing number sense from 0-10. To name a few of its purposes, it helps our little ones understand counting and can be a useful tool when learning to add and subtract.

For this activity you will need:

  • An egg carton - use the bottom half only and cut two pieces off the end, so you have ten spots total (5 on top, 5 on bottom)

  • 10 Easter eggs

  • Number cards (1-10)

To play:

  1. Give your little a number card and have them identify the number

  2. Next, they will count the correct number of eggs into the carton

  3. Have them double check to make sure the number on the card and the number of eggs in the egg carton match up!

  4. Repeat!

  5. You may want to start with the smaller numbers first (1-5), if this is a new skill you are working on. Work your way up to ten when they are ready!
