We recently got a "Tuff Tray" from Learning Through Play Trays, and it has been the absolute BEST place to engage my boys in some messy play. The size of the play tray is perfect for making a big mess, but also containing the big mess! There is also something about playing on the floor that they simply love.
One of the activities we did in our play tray was making cloud dough "pies".
Here is what we used:
-large mixing bowl and spoons
-flour + vegetable oil + pumpkin spice for the cloud dough
-eco pie pans from Nature Based Toys
-loose part pumpkins from Hobby Lobby
-cinnamon sticks
-white pom poms or cotton balls for whipped cream
-wooden pumpkins and pies from Snowy Owl Creative (code jillian15)
To create the cloud dough we scooped flour into the mixing bowl and then added a few shakes of pumpkin spice. Add a little vegetable oil at a time until your flour becomes moldable, but not sticky or goopy. It is typically about an 8:1 ratio. This is the perfect activity to practice measuring and scooping!
Let the creations begin! If using the recipe cards, the cloud dough will be your crust. Then follow the recipe and add in the remainder of the ingredients OR just let your littles explore and make their own creations!
