10 Easter Crafts + Sensory Play

I can't believe it is already Springtime and I haven't put a blog post up in SO long! Our play hasn't stopped! Check out our Instagram to keep up to date. (@jillianstockert) Posting to all the sites can get time consuming, but we are all in to the Easter play and I am excited to share some of the activities we have been doing.

If you haven't already, check out the Easter bundle. Tons of fun, hands-on learning activities to do with your preschoolers!

  1. Easter egg playdough creations - We got the egg mold from Nature Based Toys and are OBSESSED! However, this activity can be done without! - Have your little create a little egg with their playdough - Then simply decorate with beads, buttons, pipe cleaners, gems, chickpeas, etc. - A great fine motor activity for building hand strength

2. Peep Marshmallow Stamping with paint - I've seen this one online a few times and knew we had to do it! - You need: bunny peeps, spring colored paint, and white paper or canvas -Have your little stamp the Peep in the paint and then stamp on their paper - So simple and SO cute!

3. Jellybeans + baking soda + vinegar - a fun way to do a little experiment and use up those jellybeans! - Put some baking soda on a tray or in a bowl and sprinkle the jelly beans on top. Warm up some vinegar (the coloring on the jellybeans will dissolve quicker). - Have your little use a spoon, dropper, or medicine syringe to squirt some vinegar onto the beans and baking soda. Watch the bubbly reactions and watch as the coloring on the jellybeans begins to dissolve! - Have your little make a guess of what they think might happen! See if they were right!

4. Jellybean rainbow experiment - another cute way to use jellybeans! - You need jellybeans, a plate, and water - Place the jellybeans in a circle around the plate. Pour a little water onto the plate so it spreads out and reaches each bean. - Wait and watch! The coloring will begin to spread making a fun rainbow like effect.

5. Egg transfer + balancing game - this is a fun way to turn water play into a game

-Fill tote with water and optional food coloring

-Throw in eggs and give your littles a bowl to put eggs into and a variety of tools (spoons, forks, spatulas to make it even more challenging.

-Have them walk (or run!) and get all the eggs in the bowl without dropping any. You could also make it a race or add a timer to change it up and bring on the pressure!

6. Make your own Spring chickpea filler - once you make your own filler, you never go back! It really is SO easy and takes very little time. - You simply need dried chickpeas, Spring colored acrylic paint, plastic bags, and parchment or wax paper - Throw the chickpeas in the bag with a squirt of paint and optional squirt of hand sanitizer. Give it a good shake until it's all covered - Lay out on parchment paper to dry - Throw in a tray or bin with some little bowls, scoops, festive goodies from the Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby and let your little explore! - To make it educational, pair with some of our Easter activities

7. Shaving cream eggs -I have been wanting to try this one for awhile now, and I'm so glad I did. It turned out so cute!

- You will need shaving cream, paint or even food coloring and some white paper. We used card stock!

- Spray some shaving cream onto a pan and use a spoon or something to flatten it out.

- Drizzle on some paint and then use a stick or end of a paintbrush to swirl the paint around.

- Place paper on top of the shaving cream and paint and gently press down

- Remove and use a squeegee, ruler, or spatula to scrape off shaving cream

- Let dry and cut out your egg!

8. Rescue the Easter eggs - a simple and fun activity to practice fine motor skills and play in some water!

- Fill a bin or tote with water ( I added a drop of food coloring)

- Throw in some easter eggs

- Tape over the top of the tote

- Give your little some tongs to rescue the eggs

9. Bunny painting with paint sticks or dot markers

- We used our Kwik Stix (use code Jillian10 on their site to save) paint sticks and white paper. You could also use dot markers, crayons, markers, paint, etc.

- Print off a bunny picture (there is one in the Preschool bundle) and cut out

-Tape over the top of a piece of paper

- Grab your coloring tool of choice and have your little paint or color around the edges of the bunny

- Remove the bunny and reveal!

10. Bubbly Easter potions - There is a couple ways you can do this one and both are so fun!

- For the first, we used: citric acid, baking soda, mica powder, water and vinegar mixture, plus a variety of easter loose parts

- Mix citric acid with a little bit of baking soda and mica powder. Pour in a pan, bowl, etc. Have your little add some loose parts. Mix water and dash of vinegar. Squirt over the top to make your bubbly potion!

- For the second, we used: egg carton, Easter eggs, baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring

- Grab egg carton and place egg halves in each space. Add baking soda with a drop of food coloring into each egg half. Have your little squirt vinegar into each egg to reveal the bubbly potion!

Have a fun and Happy Easter!
